Paranormal Entities, an Alternate Theory
Throwing out the idea that hunting the paranormal is fringe science, for just a minute let’s consider paranormal evidence is fact. Let’s imagine that our EVP’s, EMF’s, Pictures, Videos, etc. prove that there really are paranormal entities that exist around us and that they can be measured in one way or another through scientific documentation. Assuming that is true, is what we are dealing with really some form of glimpse into the afterlife? All religious debate aside, the ans

Removing an Entity, The Power of Belief
Inevitably, the question will always come up. We’ve spent all night in the house, we’ve documented and recorded every second of time passing since 10:00 pm the night before. We’ve analyzed, debated, and analyzed all the data again. We present everything. Some things we explain easily as a natural happening. But then, there are just a few things we can’t. We’re not saying it’s a spirit and we’re not saying it isn’t. It could be a lot of things, but we just don’t have the evide

Advanced EVP, Real Science
Anyone can capture an EVP with the most basic of equipment. In other blogs I have often recommended using a phone for people who are just starting out. The most common method is using digital recorders which is something else we currently do. However, one thing I haven't discussed is how to get the rock solid, irrefutable, EVPs using more advanced recording equipment. It's not something I talk about too much because it's equipment that the average person or group would not ha

Finding a Case
Getting into a location is not the easiest task. Sometimes a location (like the Baker Hotel) has allot of history and stories about being haunted. In those cases the owner probably gets a call about ten times a day from various paranormal people wanting to go poking around. By call nine hundred and ten, they really just aren't interested in letting people tromp around their property anymore. If they are, they are probably charging an arm and a leg to have people go through th

The Science of an EVP
There you are, the only one in the house. Nervously in the dark you clutch your tape recorder and ask a question. Your ears hear nothing, you begin to relax and ask a few more questions. Still nothing. You decide to take a break and play the recording back. You sit in the dark straining to listen to the silence between questions half hoping you catch something, afraid that you actually might. Then you hear it. An answer. It sends chills down your spine. You check the house on

Dreaming the Deceased
How many people out there have had an intense dream where they interacted with a deceased loved one? Almost everyone can recall having had a vivid dream like this that was so intense and tactile, they swear it was real. Statistically this most often happens within a week of the person passing. Psychological studies explain it as a coping mechanism for grief, giving your brain an outlet to emote when it may otherwise not be able to. This certainly makes sense in the United Sta

The Science of a Witch Board
I have always been fascinated and terrified by Ouija Boards. On the surface it seems pretty innocent, but the implication of how it is said to work should send every warning flag off in your brain. There are basically three things that could be going on that make these things work. And, while I'm a factualist; for some reason it's one of the few lines I won't cross. I do not nor will I ever use a Ouija Board for communication. There's allot of things I will do, but there are

After the Hunt
Here I am again. The day after an all night investigation. I remember when pulling an all nigher with my friends didn't used to hurt me the next day. A few beers, lots of video games, staying up until 3:00AM, and then I could get up the next day without any problems. Well, that is just no longer the case. In my old age, getting up the day after is anything but easy. It's 12:51pm now (Sunday) and I just don't feel like it today. What we show on the videos are the highlights pl

Basic Ghost Hunting
One of the most common questions "I get asked is: How did you get started in ghost hunting/paranormal investigation?" To which I reply "Mainly to impress my nerdy friends." Then I laugh while they stare at me disapprovingly... But after I'm done amusing myself with bad humor they are surprised to hear that getting started is not all that hard. In fact several of our supporters are amature ghost hunters themselves, and send us evidence to look at for them! Getting started is p

Ghost Hunter or Investigator?
We have many cute little names that define what we do, but mainly it comes down to two: Paranormal Investigator, and Ghost Hunter. The ladder used the most frequently, and it drives me up a wall. Nothing against ghost hunters, but that's just not what I really am. You may be asking yourself what the difference is, and you wouldn't be in the wrong. It's not like there's any real difference to the mainstream and people who are outside of the game itself. Really it's something I

Residual Intelligence
Often in an investigation we will talk of hunting's and "ghosts" as either a residual presence or an intelligent one. But, what does that really mean? Is a ghosts not just a ghost? The theory is, no. Not all hunting's are the same and present their own unique challenges to documenting the evidence needed to make a case for paranormal activity. First off, let's address the difference. We define a Residual Haunting as a non-intelligent energy that tends to follow and repeat pat

In Mourning
When I woke up this morning, it was to a phone call that a good friend of mine and former mentor had passed away in his sleep from brain cancer. He was not very old, in fact he was only a few years younger than my father. Earlier in the year he got a diagnosis after having some strange fugue moments and memory problems. The doctor gave him 18 month's at best, and honestly right now I couldn't;t tell you how long it really was; but it was fast. Like my father I have no regrets
